Virtual and digital future of fashion industry

Before getting into deep insights of the foreseeable future of the industry, I must say there is something I have learned of forecasting and learning about the future: I have to know what is happening now. For this reason, I will have a small introduction of the present and what has led the fashion industry to where we are today.

So, what exactly is emerging from a chaotic period of time when we are in a middle of a worldwide pandemic, never-ending lockdowns, questionable elections, more than ever influential LGBTQ and Blacklivesmatter movement, staged riots, continuous protests, ongoing climate crisis, “Seaspiracy”, bushfires and explosions?
Wait, it is not over. An experimental vaccination program is forced on us while an irreversible AI revolution is happening. Our feed, mailbox, search engine is flooded with personalized ads that call to action. Shop now.
Can we go back to normal? Not really. Thanks to variants, lockdowns and massive upcoming restrictions affecting and blaming the healthy unvaccinated we will keep social distancing, staying at home and staying safe. One question: Do you think it is a coincidence that 5G technology was laid out simultaneously with the Covid breakout?
We are doomed to be online:
To work
To socialize
To shop
To consume everything possible online (entertainment, sport, games, conferences, workshops etc.)
And the supply is here to cater to the new consumer needs.
AI is working on our big data to customize every possible service to be consumed and voliá the “Big Brother” of the human population is created. There is facial recognition, emotional recognition, voice assistants and so on… to track our life inside out. An unprecedented exchange of data and knowledge around every single aspect of human behavior is being collected.

What to wear for your perfect Burj Khalifa shot

Thinking of where to escape from the harsh European winter? No doubt Dubai is the perfect choice where the mild and decently warm weather starts around October.
While the summer is almost unbearably hot, the “winter” on the other hand is pretty amusing. Lately however we do pray for some more sun, as we notice a higher number of rainy and cloudy days than usual, so shooting outside in a lovely 25 degrees is something very ideal we bloggers do wish for. Maybe if a bit more breeze could be arranged that would be lovely too:-).
Taking shots is not always that convenient here in the UAE as professional cameras are often prohibited to be used due to privacy reasons. On our recent shooting with @alphaspotting we were actually sent away from our desired shooting locations, but our never-ending wish for creating something special in the Burj Khalifa area did not let us give up on our plans. Shooting with Mo is pretty advantageous, he knows all the nice places, angles, perspectives in the city. Go check out his gallery, it won’t dissappoint.

Change your ordinary fall sweater to unique designer pieces

With the ever-changing weather this year’s Fall is being quite pleasant to our usual late November outfit combination habits. While mornings keep being really chilly during the day we still can wear easy, less layered styled outfits. Beside the usual sweater, jeans, long skirts, over-the-knee boots traditions I do prefer the more classical looks or the ones that has more texture, creative shapes and styles let it be a blouse, nice pants, jumpsuits or blazer combinations. However I’m all into the eye-catching outfits, when the cold comes I tend to wear socks and scarves on an everyday basis because
I’m that “always cold Chick” who starts to wear coats or a trench as the temperature drops under 18 Celsius. Just like sweaters can look ordinary so as coats get boring, thats why I like to purchase more styles, different jackets, capes, faux furs each season so I don’t have to wear the same “warm and efficient” coats once I’m back in the cold weather. Yes I admit it ends up in a complete mess being back in Budapest for winter because all you see in my apartment are coats hanging on top of each other, overwhelmed hangers, and different heels and boots that occupy the seats in my car. Situation get worse when I shoot with my photographer. Well then my car turns into a beautiful mess and in the same time a nightmare to clean and organize. Despite the lower temperature Fall is my absolute favorite season when it comes to fashion, and I always fall in love with Hungarian designers epic pieces. Without doubt Zia has again caught my attention, and I forgot about all my fast-fashion knitted jumpers as soon as I laid hands on my chic Boundless Jumper.

Bittersweet San Francisco

Its been 2 months since I haven’t stepped foot in San Francisco, such a pity, once I considered it as a new home. California is way too amazing, the vibes, the scenery, the climate, its rhythm basically you can never get enough of it.
If you follow my journey you probably recognized that I haven’t really been settling down as I was always on the go. After meeting someone I decided to place focus on our relationship, and haven’t returned to Singapore since last mid-December. Truth to be told I always felt something strange, something I can’t explain, call it a women’s intuition, but I was so well fooled about how much I was loved not only with words but actions too, that I felt it was the right decision. Well….
It has been an infinite emotional rollercoaster.
This post is not an ordinary
“See our beautiful photos we have created with the amazing Suzy Raskin”.
This is for us women who have found themselves in crazy situations with unexplainable men behaviors and breakups.

See our photos made for the Marie Claire Magazine Photo Tender

To be honest applying for the tender was quite ad-hoc and sudden as most of the things are in my life. I was not really aware what style Marie Claire will “prefer” neither had much time as I was told about the tender only 2 weeks before the application period  was closed. Even made it a bit tougher when the first photographer quit and I was left there with an idea I liked but with a slight side note: It was a photo tender for photographers, where clearly I was only an optional model. Still I cared for this project as its Mamacittá ? and pushed it till the end. I kind of felt the topic of the tender pretty close to me and was also sure that something interesting has to be done for this occasion.

The theme of the tender was: The colorful existence of women.

It wasn’t that easy as I had 1,5 week left, needed THE PHOTOGRAPHER:-), the make up artist, preferably a stylist too. A studio and well yes  more time:-) Time I did not have!
To be honest the hardest part was to find the time when everybody was able can get together, be on one specific location:-) and do the work.

I was inspired by Sandro Miller’s Malkovich photo exhibition I have previously seen in Budapest. So the idea was clear. Show the colorful existence of women through different characters that are unconventional, or popular in world press photographed with one model → Me.
I needed to keep reminding myself that the project is a photographer tender, and not a topic of a new blogpost of mine. And surprisingly or not I have taken it damn serious.
The approach of us towards the photographs was following my idea, so you will likely feel the touch of fashion on them. Well… Quite much of a fashion touch. The more I see the pictures the more I smile. We humans and our minds and our creativity is so unique and authentic.

Let me show you what characters were in my mind, and how did we display them on the Marie Claire magazine photo tender:-)

Photographer: Richard Vojcehovszkij

This season’s most affordable and smart fashion choices

How far do you go for fashion? Are you following the high-end fashion gurus and copy “them” style or simply choosing what you like in the most popular commercial stores like H&M, ZARA, Bershka etc?

To be honest sometimes I find hard to relate to those who are advertising themselves on social media with big Hermés and Gucci bags, together with Tiffany, Louis and all the rest. I mean why photographing yourself with paper bags? Showing off brings nothing to my mind but feeling sorry for those girls insecurity. If you really (or your man:-) ) has that money, do charity, build something, help others, there are so many ways to gain your followers like, than showing off your money.

If you ask me, I like to follow high-end fashion, or so to say to purchase some statement pieces when I can, but as affordability comes handy I shop a lot from commercial stores.

Why?

Office Casual Outfit

Not long ago I had to travel to Oslo to a conference and I was quite sure that I was not going to bring the ordinary black skirt, white blouse, black jacket and comfy look-like low-heel shoes.

Why?

I will never forget one of my previous exhibition I was participating in May 2017, in Frankfurt. The IMEX is the most important trade exhibition in Germany with 3500 exhibitors, from 150 countries, over 5200 decision makers, millions of meetings held in one place within 3 days. I remember my last day when my feet were sore, I felt like I was entering a beehive where all the faces were already in some way familiar, yet tired and less-welcoming than they were on the opening day, but all I knew I needed to have at least 10 more valuable meetings out of which maybe 1 was to be resultful. I was walking in my black jacket with my badge on my name: Edina Karina Deák, well shown the company I was representing, a white blouse, a black tight skirt and my shoes killing my feet in the last 2 days…

AND THERE HE WAS!

I thought i saw God:-) If i could describe well…. He looked perfect. Simply perfect, masculine, handsome, 2m tall at least, very muscular, brown skin, brown sad eyes, amazing MAN you just want to have right beside you. Or all over you…
I was anxious knowing I was there for 3 days, that I could have spent with him (out of my working hours-of course)  than I have imagined all those “lost” minutes, hours, lunches, dinners not to mention all the rest WHICH did not happen because I saw -let’s say- “met” him only at that very moment. I felt like time has stopped and tried not to forget to act normal… and breathe.

There is a jumpsuit for every body shape

As 2017 slowly turns into 2018 i have had to notice that this year my new fashion trend was wearing overalls – commonly called jumpsuits. I’ve just realized that I always bring one with me to the fitting room at each store visit. Besides, it is also visible on every advertisement that pops up on my search engine that its either a Revolve, Secondskinoveralls, or a Zara jumpsuit on the ad.

This years truly newest fashion trends were the suits, the kimonos, the jumpsuits, the waist bags, the hats, and the sneakers. In fact as I’m sitting here listing for you I could just add at least 5 more items that if someone asks me i can definitely recall it was in 2017.

The variations when it comes to jumpsuits are infinite:
long sleeve, short sleeve, strapped, zipped, culottes style or skinny, loose or tight etc.

You can find endless pieces of velvet (e.g. this mango), vegan leather (e.g. this secondskinoverall),  fabric (e.g. this asos) or one of my this years favorite type the sequinned (e.g this missguided).

Gym Fashion

Im quite passionate when it comes to gym and fitness outfits. This is a kind of silly rule of mine lets call it the EE rule. Everything needs to match with everything. Those who train regularly 4-6 times a week knows what I’m talking about. The more time we spend in the gym the more concerned we are about our outfit we spend those hours. Specially when it comes to sweating. The more uncomfortable my body feels while sweating, soaring, stretching the more comfortable I want to feel in my pants and shirts.

We love to have two pairs of different colored shoes (some even separate the type of sport shoes e.g. for running and for indoor crossfit), not to mention the number of pants in various patterns, and lengths, sport bras, and shirts.
Of course we all have those ugly days, when we don’t wake up on time, forget the laundry in the machine and accidentally didn’t dry those what we wanted to wear the other day etc… So we just throw whatever is in the vicinity of our hands to the gym bag and leave home quickly.

But what are those criteria we choose and buy our so often wore and rotated pieces we don’t change for years?

Knit Love Knit Everything

I swear in the last tree years i’ve bought more knit items at winter than winter coats. Its not only that i really like to dress layered but also i don’t like huge coats. Only occasionally.

Usually it is it’s softness, the fluffiness, their light weight, their foldability and last but not least their color are the reasons why i literally fell in love with each knit i see. Better to say i shall not try them otherwise i buy them. Nothing is different in 2017 winter compared to 2016 winter, except i have more knits and i barely fit in my wardrobe. But really! Ok they are either hanged or folded but they do take hell a lot of space!

In this post i’ll give you an example how a cardigan can substitute a coat (if) we don’t have in the style that would go perfectly with our outfit. Take a jumpsuit, quite shiny, quite silver, quite long, quite loose, quite thin for a winter outfit quite cool for going out… but still what do we do if we don’t find any coat fitting for our outfit… Noooo we don’t just put on what we have, we put a knit! Quite warm, quite loose, quite stylish!
